27 Getting a pet
I made a list of 100 things I should do that scare me. In 2020, I plan to complete all 100.
I’ve wanted a small fluffy animal for a long time. They’re really good for mental health, and I need that in my life.
Thing is, my husband doesn’t really like them. Says small mammals have attitude problems. I guess that’s true for cats, small dogs, and rabbits, so I knew that wasn’t going to be an option, but I wasn’t impressed by my other choices. Both of us felt like mice and rats were a little weird to keep around, even if some of them are pretty cute; a lot of hamsters are little jerks; chinchillas literally bathe in dust, which I’m allergic to.
I settled on wanting a guinea pig. I finally got out of Caleb that his largest objection to it would be the fear that he’d kill it (not intentionally, but through neglect), and I assured him it would be mine and my responsibility.
Of course, that made it a little scary to jump into. It’s a time commitment as well as a financial one, but as per some of my previous posts, I have the time to spend.
But I’ve taken the plunge.
Their names are Sugar and Rice, and I love them :)
This should have been level 1. I put it as level 3. I’ll downgrade to level 2.
